As part of the upcoming show and exhibition, Workin’ the Tease: The Art of Baltimore Burlesque, the students of the Maryland Institute College of Art Exhibition Design Seminar will be presenting a workshop on burlesque hairstyling this Friday, March 7th, from 6:00-9:00pm at the Graduate Studio Center (131 W North Ave, Baltimore, MD). The workshop will include demonstrations by local stylists, a Q&A session with Baltimore burlesque performers, and a live burlesque performance.

Mourna Handful, The Sweetheart of Dark A delectable dichotomy of sweet and spice, Mourna Handful is a DC/MD/VA-based burlesque performer and a co-founder of Black Tassel Boolesque, who produce shows from the dark and decadent to the creepy and campy. She focuses on character and narration to create storytelling striptease that will make you scream with delight. Mourna made her way from wide-eyed audience member to onstage ecdysiast by way of Trixie Littleā€™s Burlesque Bootcamp. Since then she has performed up and down the East Coast and has appeared in the Jim Thorpe Burlesque Festival, the Pennsylvania Burlesque Festival, and ABSfest. She has been a three-time guest performer for Queen of Burlesque Angie Pontani's Burlesque-a-Pades and has shared the stage with 2012 King of Boylesque Russell Bruner and the incomparable compere Armitage Shanks, as well as musical acts Voltaire, Hellblinki, and This Way to the Egress. When you see this buxom contradiction of naughty and nice, be prepared to be whisked away to a storyland in another time and another place, and where the inhabitants are slightly naked.
